Methodology (The How)

The method of study I have chosen is a university-program-mirrored, self-taught, self-paced method. What this means is that I have decided to attempt follow a well-defined course of study from a major university program, where I attempt to gain a body of knowledge which is equivalent to or greater than a typical university Master's student - with the main difference being that I will do it at my own pace, and largely by teaching myself.

At first blush this approach may sound difficult or impossible, or at best foolhardy. However, to explain this approach further, I should clarify what I mean by 'teaching myself'. My methodology will include the following rules:
  1. I will organize my study around the same set of courses as the university program
  2. I will use the same textbook used by each university course
  3. Wherever possible, legal and practical, I will obtain and use the same syllabi, course outlines, assignments, and exams
  4. Wherever possible, legal and practical, I will obtain and view recorded lectures from the actual university courses or a substitute from another university course that is more readily available as open courseware
  5. I will track my progress, including my study/lecture notes, assignments, thoughts, etc. on this blog
  6. I will award myself an honest grade for every course
At the completion of the degree, I will award myself with the degree, and will maintain this blog for the purposes of documenting my coursework for any potential employer or other who might be interested.
