Motivation (The Why)

Why am I doing this? I'm not exactly sure how to quantify the relative weights of each of my reasons, but it's some combination of the following:

1. I love mathematics
2. I enjoy strategy games, and the theory and math behind them
3. I have a fascination with the psychology of games of chance
4. I enjoy learning, and feel like I always need to learn new things
5. I enjoy 'crunching numbers' in spreadsheets, databases, etc.
6. I'm fascinated by things that are true but counterintuitive
7. I don't want to become obsolete or expendable in the job market
8. I need another hobby that doesn't involve sitting in front of a TV
9. It seemed like a fun/interesting experiment
10. I enjoy a good puzzle or challenge where I am in control of my own destiny
